Abd Almonem Doolaanea, PhD
Associate Professor
Abd Almonem Doolaanea was graduated from Aleppo University (Aleppo, Syria) in 2006 as bachelor’s in pharmacy and pharmaceutical chemistry. After that he worked at Razi Labs Pharmaceuticals as quality control manager for about three years (2006-2009). In 2008 he was appointed as assistant lecturer in Aleppo University. In 2009, Abd Almonem moved to Malaysia to continue his study in Faculty of Pharmacy (International Islamic University Malaysia). He obtained his PhD in pharmaceutical science (pharmaceutical technology) in Nov 2014. During his PhD he worked in the faculty as lab demonstrator and as R&D executive in IKOP SDN BHD, the pilot plant of the faculty for GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Directly after that, in Dec 2014 he started working as assistant professor in department of pharmaceutical technology, Faculty of Pharmacy, International Islamic University Malaysia. At the same time, he served as production executive in IKOP SDN BHD. In 2016, he was appointed as head of quality assurance in IKOP SDN BHD. In the faculty he taught undergraduates and postgraduates (Master Industrial pharmacy) and he is the person-in-charge for Advanced Drug Delivery Lab. Dr. Doolaanea was pioneer in the research and innovation in the faculty and received several awards in the university and national levels. During this time he also developed a remarkable passion about patents and acquired a lot of knowledge and training in the patent field. He used to draft majority of his own patents.
In 2022 he was appointed as an associate professor in University College of MAIWP International (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), then he moved to the United Stated where he is working and as a Senior R&D Chemist at Sabrena Experience, a cosmetic R&D and manufacturing company that targets innovative delivery of cosmetic and skin care active ingredients. Dr Doolaanea is also the founder of a microencapsulation startup specialized in advanced delivery of drugs, cosmetics and supplements. His specialization is in pharmaceutical technology, nanotechnology, microencapsulation, nanoparticle research, taste masking technologies, electrospray technology, and drug formulation, manufacturing, and delivery. Dr Doolaanea has a proven ability in designing and managing innovative, award-winning research projects with knowledge of various research methods and techniques. He is an effective instructor and supervisor to undergraduate, master-, and doctoral-level students with five master students and 3 PhD students graduated. He is the author of numerous publications in high-impact scientific journals, being one of the highest number of publications on electrospray for drug delivery worldwide in 2019-2020. Dr Doolaanea holds several Malaysian patents and applying new US patents.
In 2024, Dr. Doolaanea fulfilled his long time desire and became a registered patent agent in the United States. He is willing to serve clients especially researchers in the field of pharmaceutical, cosmetic, biomedical, chemical and related sciences.
